Pop culture may have been introduced to Yosra El-Essawy as Beyonce’s official photographer, but the extent of her talent doesn’t begin or end here. Her route to art was not conventional, but one based purely on love and instinct. After receiving an honors degree in physiology from UCL in London, with a strong pull towards a medical career, she made a choice to trust that her heart would guide her on the path to uniting her two passions: people and art, though she had no clue how she’d get there.

As an international visual artist and creative, Yosra has loaned her expertise to films like “An Oversimplification of Her Beauty” by Terrance Nance. With global connections and support systems, she’s worked between her hometown of London and New York for years as a wedding photographer, with the occasional trip to Egypt and other intoxicating corners of the world.

Her first solo exhibition in London titled “Eye.Soul” drew attendees from across Europe and the U.S. who were eager to experience the passion she pours into every project she touches. The exhibit, which is a constant work in progress, provided a sneak peek into the lives of Yosra’s subjects and her personal/professional travels.

As an inspiration to everyone who crosses her path and follows her very candid journey on Instagram, Yosra is a beautiful spirit to behold. To learn more about Yasra and her many creative endeavors, click here.

As a New York City storyteller, filmmaker, digital content creator, and PR strategist, Renae Bluitt created "In Her Shoes" to empower and enlighten women committed to realizing their dreams.
