Inspired by: EBONY + Tumblr

By  |

So, have you been paying attention to what’s been going on over at EBONY? This historic publication which holds a dear place in our hearts has undergone a total overhaul. New talent, a new look, new content, and as of this week, a brand new and totally fly Tumblr .

We all know that EBONY (founded by the late John H. Johnson) is the only publication in the world that has thoroughly archived the Black experience in our country since its launch in 1945. While the magazine’s circulation was on the decline for some years, it’s quite clear now that there’s a new sheriff in town and EBONY, along with its sister publication, JET, are now poised to take the publishing industry by storm. Taking a look at the brand’s Tumblr is like scrolling through our community’s history books. If you’re ever in need of inspiration, swing by and take a look for yourself. So much of our beautiful, rich culture is celebrated on the burgeoning social media site. I promise you’ll take one look and be ready to yell out “I’m Black and I’m proud!”

*Kudos and much respect to a few of the talented women I know over at EBONY and JET who have truly come in, rolled up their sleeves, and created magic together: Amy Dubois Barnett, Kierna Mayo, Mitzi Miller, Jamilah-Asali Lemieux, and Geneva Thomas. Keep shining, ladies!

As a New York City storyteller, filmmaker, digital content creator, and PR strategist, Renae Bluitt created "In Her Shoes" to empower and enlighten women committed to realizing their dreams.
