Congratulations are in order for my sweet friend and fellow Brooklynite, Miss Kristen Tate! Affectionately known as “K.T.,” Kristen is the head of her own PR consulting business and was selected to appear in this month’s Black Enterprise to discuss debt reduction strategies. The issue entitled “Next Is Now” is dedicated to featuring young entrepreneurs under 35-years old who are blazing pathways in their respective fields. As discussed on In Her Shoes earlier this month, fellow blog star Natasha Eubanks, founder of the popular gossip site Young, Black, and Fabulous, graces the cover.

When asked how she’s managed to eliminate debt, Kristen credits her success to a loving family and told Black Enterprise that:

“My parents and grandparents stressed the importance of being financially responsible. Rather than buying everything I wanted, l lived frugally and paid down my debt. I wanted the peace of mind of knowing I didn’t owe anyone.”
