Rachel Roy for Macy’s
To be a true Fly Female Entrepreneur you’ve got to be able to embrace change, own it, and make it work for you. One of flyest female entrepreneurs of them all – Rachel Roy – demonstrated this today as she announced her new deal with the Jones Apparel Group Inc. to launch a more affordable, contemporary version of her clothing line to be sold exclusively at Macy’s. The line is aptly titled Rachel – Rachel Roy and is sure to appeal to budget-conscious fans of Rachel Roy’s eponymous line.
We’ve seen this trend with several of today’s hottest designers including Vera Wang for Kohl’s, Alexander McQueen for Target, Patricia Field for the Home Shopping Network and the list goes on. In today’s weak economy, women are in search of quality for less so in a very strategic move, Miss Rachel Roy is also stepping up to the plate to offer consumers more affordable options.
The designer tells Women’s Wear Daily:
“This line is the younger sister to the Rachel Roy collection. It has the same designer sensibility but with a younger feeling. This is the customer that I used to be – and maybe I still am every once in a while.”
The contemporary Rachel – Rachel Roy line, scheduled to debut in Macy’s 85 stores in August, is priced at $59 to $299 for sportswear, $79 to $199 for shoes, up to $195 for jewelry, and as much as $109 for handbags.
Congrats on your new venture, double R!
