Don’t Give Yourself Away

A couple weeks ago I felt exhausted.  I was tired in all three ways – mental, emotional and physical. I couldn’t pinpoint why I felt lethargic and simply drained. It took a conversation and some “me time” to realize that I was drained because I was giving all of myself away. It was the simple fact that even though I was enjoying my day-to-day activities,  I wasn’t getting energized by doing something simply for me. No expectations from anyone else, no opinion from others or stressing from others.

I realized the cure was to have something that is simply on my own terms. In today’s day and age we get so caught up in countless activities and working. We all have many commitments to others and tend to begin stretching ourselves thin just to avoid dropping the ball. Even when you are balancing all your commitments in a healthy way, you still need to have a project or time which is all your own.

After having a conversation with one of my roommates, they made it clear to not give yourself away entirely. You deserve just as much time to yourself as you give to others.  So you ask, what’s the solution? Create. Create a project, an idea that you’ve been tussling with make it come to life. Set time where you work on pulling inspiration and creativity every day. If not, your creative juices will begin to wither away in your every day routine.

Create. Inspire. Live.
