Brain Candy: Best Digital Mags for Tech-Related News
By In Her Shoes Contributor: Ashley Small
The social media space changes everyday and it’s easy to get lost in all of the noise coming in every direction. In my first post, I wrote about Flipboard, my favorite app for aggregating news, but today I’d like to narrow it down a bit to the best digital magazines that help keep me on my toes.
Some have print versions too, but of course, I’m married to e-editions. Here’s my list:
- Social Media Examiner. This is where I go to get a quick glimpse of the latest trends in the industry. In comparison to the the whole gang here, their digital magazine lacks in modern design and usability, however, the information is useful and great for those who just want straight on information about the latest changes with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and more.
- Entrepreneur. This one’s no new kid on the block, but I can always count on it to find out about the latest apps for business. Just like the magazine, Entrepreneur.com is robust, diverse and has done a great job of adapting to the digital space.
-
TechCrunch.
If you find yourself loving Social Media Examiner, TechCrunch may not quite be your cup of tea. It’s highly data driven with a focus on topics like social privacy, tech enterprise and missed opportunities in the tech industry. It gets pretty geeky over there and it’s easy to get lost in the abundance of new information and fresh perspectives.
- Forbes. Another good old classic, Forbes had managed to stay above the fold by covering all areas of entrepreneurship really well. Like TechCrunch, they dive deeply into tech enterprise and startups, so if you’re wanting to launch an app or apply for a tech incubator program soon, this is a great place to start.
- YFS Magazine. Young, Fabulous and Self-employed. Need I say more? Like In Her Shoes Blog, YFS has created a space to celebrate other entrepreneurs in a healthy, progressive and modern way. YFS offers page upon page of expert advice from industry leaders in PR, tech and much more. And the founder is a fly, female entrepreneur!
Would love to learn about some of your favorite e-magazines to stay in the know!
