Think About It...

Times A Wastin’

By  |

How many times have you popped up in the morning with a mental list of what needs to be done that day? At the end of the day, how many times have you realized that you didn’t even get half way through your list? Time is simple. It never stops nor does it change. It can be our best friend and our worst enemy. We don’t always need to live on a schedule. It’s great to have days that plan themselves sometimes but if we don’t have that type of freedom, we can still use time to our advantage. Here’s how:

Ol’ School List– Yes, as much as making a list may seem old fashioned, it truly helps. There’s a certain feeling of accomplishment that comes when you can literally cross something off your task list. It allows you to have a clear and precise idea what needs to be done. If we leave it up to memory, we tend to leave one or two things off.

False Alarm– No, it’s not a false alarm, it’s honestly time to jump out of bed and conquer the day. Instead of hitting the snooze button to get 15 more minutes of sleep set your alarm 15 minutes ahead of time. Take the time to get up earlier to get centered and ready for the day. When you’re not rushed you feel as if you have more control over your day and can plan it out.

Off Limits!- Everyday set aside time for yourself and label it “off limits.”  Off limits to your husband, roommate,  your talkative girlfriend, and anyone that is not you.  As important as it is to be productive, it’s just as important to give yourself at least 30 minutes of “me time” per day. Don’t feel guilty either. The happier and calmer you are the better your interactions will be with others.

Organize your time and don’t let procrastination become a habit.  Once you have a clear schedule of how you want to spend your time, your mind will become less cluttered and you’ll suffer from less anxiety. And by the way, don’t just feel obligated to set aside time for work interactions, ladies. We’ve got to make room for play, too!

“Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save.”
