Launch Your Dream E-Boutique

By  |

Let’s face it. We’re all guilty of shopping (or at least browsing) eBay from time to time when we should be working but have you ever thought about making it your full-time gig? If so, listen up because they might have the funds for you to bring that dream to life – if you have a top notch business plan.

eBay launched a new contest on Tuesday, offering four winners $25,000 each for coming up with the best plans for a business start-up using the online marketplace.

The eBay Sellers Challenge is designed to “inspire entrepreneurs to grow existing businesses – or start new ones – on eBay”, according to the company. The Sellers Challenge asks entrepreneurs to answer the question: “How would you use $25,000 to grow – or start – an eBay business?”

Four winners will each receive a $25,000 business grant, along with marketing advice and assistance from eBay. The challenge requires entrepreneurs to develop a compelling plan for growing or establishing an eBay-based business, using the powerful tools and access to buyers offered by eBay.

I’d like to applaud eBay and its marketing team for coming up with such an awesome and timely concept. As we all know, entrepreneurship is the key to rebuilding our nation’s weak economy. Despite the sense of doom and gloom shared by the media, we’ve got to strive towards economic independence and entrepreneurial success!

Both established and aspiring entrepreneurs are encouraged to visit eBay’s special website, through July 7, 2009, to submit their business idea and review the Official Rules applicable to the contest. Winners will be announced on August 11, 2009.
