In Her Shoes Home

Rest in Power, Erica…

By  |

As many of you may have read via Twitter and Facebook, fashion publicist-turned-journalist, blogger, and connector, Erica Kennedy was found deceased in her Miami apartment on June 13th. If you didn’t know this prolific writer personally, you’re probably familiar with her work. With page-turners like “Bling” that made the New York Times best sellers list and a resume that read like the “who’s who” of media, Erica was a true inspiration to brown girl scribes across the globe. Each and every piece I’ve read about this remarkable woman echoed the same sentiment; Erica was a go getter with talent to spare, and a true connector. No matter how busy she was with her awesome career, she found time to make introductions as she saw fit and uplift her fellow creators.

Rest in peace, power, and love, Erica. While you were only here with us for a short time, your beautiful spirit touched more souls than you could have EVER imagined. Through your writings and commitment to inspiring others to follow their dreams, the impact you made in your 42 years of life won’t soon be forgotten.
