C0-founded by Hannah Diol and Issa Rae, Sienna Naturals is creating a new kind of hair regimen. Regardless of how you want to express yourself through your hairstyles, they think you should always have a way to get back to your best hair and your best scalp health. And they don’t think anyone should have to choose between good hair and ingredients that are good for you and the planet. As a result, Sienna Naturals products are always free of harsh sulfates, parabens, silicones, phthalates, petroleum, mineral oil formaldehyde, and artificial fragrances.

Coloured Rain Cosmetics made its debut in 2013 when founder Loraine R. Dowdy ditched her job in the finance industry to follow her dreams of starting her own makeup brand. Her mission was to create brightly colored, high-quality products for everyone — regardless of skin tone, age, or gender — and that’s exactly what she did. Today, the brand offers a wide range of products, including liquid lipsticks, eye shadow palettes, foundation, and more.

Suite Eleven

Founded in 2018 by Arieal “Ari” Smith-Liburd, Suite Eleven is a luxury nail care brand that offers a vibrant, non-toxic and affordable option for beauty enthusiasts everywhere. Work to bring Suite Eleven to life began in 2015 when after months of suffering from an undiagnosed skin condition, Ari saw a specialist who discovered the cause of her frequent outbreaks: a number of chemical and food allergies. While on the journey to find skin-friendly alternatives, Ari decided to create one of her own, reviving a childhood pastime of visiting nail salons with her mom, the inspiration for her brand name.

Best known for its toxic-chemical-free formula, Suite Eleven products do not contain formaldehyde, parabens, camphor, toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), formaldehyde resin, xylene, ethyl tosylamide, triphenyl phosphate (TPHP), or fragrances. They are also vegan and PETA-certified. Suite Eleven successfully supports both healthy and glamorous lifestyles. The toxins are missing, but not the quality ― lacquers are premier, high-shine, and rich in pigment.

With OUI the People came a mission: The reConstitution of Beauty is the company’s commitment to “watch their language.” No brand is just a brand. Clearly. Brands inform culture and language, as beauty has done for decades. OUI the People believe beauty shouldn’t come at the expense of our psyche. Rather than pursuing flawlessness, they aim to build efficacious products, designed thoughtfully, that help you feel great in the skin you’re already in.

UOMA Beauty

Former LVMH executive Sharon Chuter founded UOMA Beauty in 2019 as a result of the lack of diversity she saw within the industry. Chuter set out to create a diverse line that goes beyond 40 foundation shades. From the dual-sided contour sticks to the Boss Gloss Lip Glosses and its Stay Woke concealer, every product in UOMA’s line offers a shade and color for all.

Black Girl Sunscreen

Sunscreen is a must for all skin tones, and Shontay Lundy’s SPF is made specifically for Black skin. For starters, Black Girl Sunscreen goes on completely sheer, meaning there won’t be a white cast left on the skin. And thanks to a natural cocktail of hydrating ingredients like avocado, sunflower oil, and jojoba, skin is left super hydrated. For an added bonus, the formula uses carrot juice (high in vitamin C) to boost the level of melanin in the skin and calm acne breakouts.

Club Loofah

Most people keep their loofahs and sponges way too long. And scientists found that after four weeks in the shower, your loofah isn’t so clean anymore and and can begin hosting gross germs and bacteria.  With Club Loofah, owned by serial entrepreneur Tonya Rapley, you’ll never forget to change your loofah again. Ditch your dirty loofah and reveal smoother, cleaner skin!
