Holiday Love: Jewel by Lisa

We’ve all seen the intricate woven prints before. While we call them African prints the fashion world has labeled the look tribal. This past Fashion Week and some collections before we’ve seen labels such as Boxing Kitten, L.A.M.B, Michael Kors and Burberry use these prints to turn out high fashion pieces that have received rave reviews. Well, there’s another designer on the scene serving up tribal fierceness. This holiday season all I want for Christmas is a dress, skirt, top or anything that Jewel by Lisa (JBL) creates!

In 2005, Lisa Folamyo burst onto the Nigerian fashion scene with her embellished use of Ankara prints. Since then her collection has grown and so has the following. Her Spring 2010 collection was featured in Arise, WWD, and NY Post Style. She is surely solidifying her place in the fashion world with such celebs as Kelis and Solange Knowles rocking her frocks. Her collections contain bold modern silhouettes married to old West African prints and tradition. It’s obvious they’re not for the shy girl who plays it safe. If you care to sparkle and shine with mixed busy prints and tailored cuts then you may want Santa to add one of these pieces to your wardrobe for the new year. I know I do!
To shop Jewel by Lisa log on to www.EvesApple.com or www.myasho.com. To view more collections or learn more about this label visit http://jewelbylisa.com.ng. While there, take a look at “The J Label”, the young, pop, affordable version to Jewel. I’m sure there’s something there for the style mavens on your list!
