Get Glam for 2016: Luminous Skin Is In
Camara Aunique
I’ve always wanted to know exactly how professional makeup artists work their magic. And no matter how hard I try, my own makeup just never seems to come out quite as nice. Just in time for your New Year approach to beauty, Celebrity Makeup Artist Camara Aunique gives us pro tips on how to achieve this season’s latest trend, the luminous look. Radiant, glowing skin is all the rage, so Camara is here to tell us how to make our features look extra dewy. Ready, set, GLOW, my friends!
Eyes:
Don’t be afraid to add gloss to your eyelids to make them pop! Believe it or not, I really like to use MAC’s Lip Glass. It’s heavy duty and won’t drip. Less is always more, so apply a small amount with a mix of eyeshadow for a splash of color. Gold or copper is beyond beautiful for my brown beauties.
Lashes:
Let’s face it. We all love a great lash to complete our look. My favorite lash is Ardell Lashes’ Demi Wispie or Wispie for a natural, yet flirty look. One thing to keep in mind while applying lashes is to keep your chin up so you can have a better view of your lash line. Practice makes perfect! If you’re having a hard time with lashes or simply don’t have the patience, pay my girl Khadine, owner of Vedette Day Spa, a visit. She’s NYC-based and even makes house calls. If you mention my name, you’ll receive 15% off your first visit. If you’re not into false lashes, you can always invest in a quality lash curler. Tweezerman Pro Master Lash Curler is my go-to. I like to curl the lash first from the lash line to middle for a deep curl, then I apply DHC Skincare Mascara and let it dry. Apply about three coats to each side and your bottom lashes for more volume and length. It’s water-resistant and adds the perfect amount of length to give you the false lash “natural” look!
Skin:
Strobing is back, which means that glossy, healthy looking skin has officially made its return. I recommend BECCA Cosmetics’ Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Blushed Copper for deeper tones and Rose Gold for lighter tones. You you can mix your foundation with the Liquid Skin Perfector in Golden Opal Pearl or Golden Rosy Pink for luminous skin all day and night. Have fun with it! You can apply this to the corners of your eyes, your Cupid’s bow, which is the heart shape of your top lip, under your brows, down your nose, and your across your cheekbones for an all over glow.
Highlighting and contouring were major in 2015, but in 2016 we’re going to start seeing the professionals do softer, bronzed glows. I recommend Cover Girl Queen Collection’s Natural Hue Bronzer to give yourself the right amount of warmth. Take your brush, apply product on one side and sweep it on the edge of your face like the letter E or the number 3. It’s that easy!
