It’s no secret that I’m a beauty junkie at heart, and nothing brings me more joy than seeing women merge their passions and careers to make the perfect marriage. Today, I’m happy to introduce you to this week’s Fly Female Entrepreneur, the talented Nanci Walker (affectionately known as “Neffi”). Never one to take it easy, the high-energy mother of four can now add skincare maven to her long list of achievements with the launch of her new baby skincare line, Kennedi Price Bebé.

Join us as Nanci gives In Her Shoes the skinny on what it takes to launch a skincare line, how she separates her brand from the competition, and her personal beauty do’s and don’ts. Welcome to the world of Kennedi Price!

In Her Shoes: Describe Kennedi Price Twitter style (140 characters or less)

Nancy: Kennedi Price is a luxurious natural skincare line for children 0-3 years of age. We focus on closeness, affection and love and pair it with delicious scents. All of these things are recognizable during bonding time with your baby.

In Her Shoes: Tell us about your professional background and what inspired you to create an organic and natural luxury skin care line for children:

Nanci: My professional background is in marketing and events. I was doing marketing for an organic skincare line and realized at that time there weren’t really any high-end luxury skincare lines for children.  When my partner and I planned to get pregnant, I figured this would be the best time to start the actual journey.

In Her Shoes: How long did it take for you to launch Kennedi Price from concept to execution? I decided summer of 2010 with research in hand to put the concept into action. Shortly after we received news that we were pregnant, I thought I would be able to be as energetic with this pregnancy as I was with the others (Nile is my fourth child). I was completely mistaken! After 9 months of bed rest and then a serious battle with postpartum it was in the fall of 2011 that everything came into focus. Kennedi Price is launching summer 2012.

In Her Shoes: What do you predict will be the hottest sellers from the line?

Nanci: Definitely the lotion…I can’t keep them stocked and we haven’t officially launched yet!

In Her Shoes: What is a day like in Nanci Walker’s shoes? We don’t have enough time for an account of my day, but I will try! 
I normally wake up around 5:30 everyday and catch up on emails before I wake the kids up. I drop 3 of the kids to the nearest train station so they can head to school. I live between lower Manhattan and New Jersey suburbs then head back home.
 I spend some time with the baby and normally dance or sing with her for about an hour before eating breakfast with my partner.  All this before our day gets started. We are both entrepreneurs so our work schedules vary dramatically from day to day. I leave New Jersey for the city around 11:30 a.m., normally heading to a scheduled lunch meeting beginning around noon (in part to make sure I remember to eat)! I go to the office, located in NoLita, where I have daily staff meetings, catch up on more emails/call backs.  My day in the office normally winds down around 6:30 p.m.  
After arriving home, I check on my oldest daughter’s homework and start dinner for the family.
 I make sure I soak in a bath around 8:30 and I normally fall asleep around 9:30.  I’m  getting old (getting older means I rarely can stay awake past 10:00 p.m.)!

In Her Shoes: What makes Kennedi Price unique and sets it apart from the competition?

Nanci: Kennedi Price is free of toxins of all kinds particularly, SLS, parabens, phthalates, synthetic dyes, formaldehyde, petrochemicals & common allergens. What really sets us apart are the delicious scents we add to our products which enrich bonding moments with your child. Studies show that scents are linked to memories so we want to help create beautiful memories of bathing, massaging and cuddling with your baby forever. 
Also our packaging is phenomenal! Every detail, including our packaging, should resonate and support the Kennedi Price lifestyle. Every item is a gift for you to take home and enjoy! I personally spent months crafting the overall aesthetic of the brand so I hope all will enjoy it.

In Her Shoes: Is there any wisdom you wish women knew about launching a brand that they probably don’t consider when going into business?

Nanci: I say research, research, research! Know who your competitor is and what they are doing. Understand your brand inside and out. Make sure you dedicate many hours, days, and months to this alone.

In Her Shoes: What’s your biggest beauty do and don’t?

Nanci: Biggest do: always have beautiful nails
. Biggest don’t: concealer that doesn’t match your skin tone. If you are going to buy products, make sure they are the proper products for your skin color/type.

Nanci: Our actual launch is Summer 2012. You can find our line at www.kennediprice.com but in the meantime you can follow our journey towards our launch and beyond via Tumbler. Also, we are giving away 3,000 samples to new and soon-to-be mothers!
