Closing the Chapter

By  |

Saying goodbye is a bittersweet experience. It’s heartbreaking in that you’re leaving something that has grown to be apart of your life over time. On the other hand it’s an opportunity for growth because when you say bye to something old the Universe opens up opportunities for fresh, new experiences. Let’s face it…goodbyes in life are inevitable. There’s never an easy way to say it but following are a couple things I’ve learned when having to move on from people, places, and even an entire lifestyle:

Appreciate the Memories– Although you’re saying goodbye to a person or place, this doesn’t mean you have to lose the memories. Keep them close because many times, within those moments of reflection we can see where and how much we’ve grown.

Upward Bound– One thing I’ve learned is to always take a step up, not just across. If you’re moving on from a relationship or a city used this opportunity as chance for improvement. Look over your actions and choices to be better and do better.

Endless Possibilities– The future is untouched and untainted, use this to your advantage.  You have a blank canvas with each day you wake up. The future is one of the few things that give us a clean, new slate.  What do you want today to look like? The choice is yours. Paint a new picture!

Life is full of greetings and departures so we’ve got to make the best of both situations. Create all the memories you can while living on this beautiful earth. Don’t let comfort or fear make you settle and try to keep reliving old memories. Use your past to help shape a beautiful future!

“We all have our time machines. Some take us back – they’re called memories. Some take us forward – they’re called dreams.”

– Jeremy Irons
