The Makers Belle Brunch

Women’s History Month Maker of Honor: Demetria Lucas

If you follow In Her Shoes blog regularly, you’ll recall a post a few weeks ago regarding the inaugural Makers Brunch at The Pink Teacup in New York City. This past Saturday The Makers struck again, joining forces with creator of the popular blog, A Belle in Brooklyn, ESSENCE relationships editor and author, Demetria Lucas, for a special Women’s History Month installment of the coveted event series.

Ladies, can you say FABULOUS? 60 of New York City’s smartest, flyest and most ambitious women gathered at Brooklyn’s Piquant for an afternoon of positive energy, delectable eats, unlimited mimosas and a few surprises including a spoken word performance by Jeff Dess and the unveiling of the cover for Demetria’s highly anticipated book, “A Belle In Brooklyn: The Go-to-Girl for Advice on Living the Single Life.”

Unfortunately, I had to leave the festivities early to make another commitment but the good news is that I still managed to capture quite a few colorful memories. Check it out!

KUDOS to The Makers: Calcie Cooper, Latoya Henry, Michelle Sprott, Shani Periz, Shantelle Guyton and Diana Hilson for producing yet another awesome experience!

As a New York City storyteller, filmmaker, digital content creator, and PR strategist, Renae Bluitt created "In Her Shoes" to empower and enlighten women committed to realizing their dreams.
