Inspired by a Visionary: Steve Jobs

By  |

When I was growing up having a computer at home was a luxury. Fast forward to 2011 and having a computer at home is a bare necessity. Not only do we need a computer at home, we need an iPhone, we need an iPod, and as if this wasn’t enough, we also need the iPad to do whatever the gadgets just listed can’t handle. These aren’t wants, they’re needs thanks to tech and marketing genius, Steve Jobs.

To think that one man single-handedly redefined the way we work and play, is about as inspiring as it gets. With a true rags to riches story, Steve Jobs went from orphan to global visionary. As the heart and soul of the world’s most valuable company, Steve showed us that no matter the obstacles you face, with confidence, faith, and commitment to your dream, you can achieve what others may deem impossible.

Steve Jobs was the epitome of true innovation. Not for his hometown, not for our country, but for the WORLD. Although he was a techie, Steve’s work touched every industry you can imagine. The way that we consume news, purchase music, communicate with friends, and handle business on the go is forever changed.

As a certified Apple junkie who proudly owns five of Steve Job’s creations, I am truly saddened by this loss. I never imagined the death of someone I’ve never met in life impacting me this way. As the world mourns the transition of one of the most talented and inspiring men of our time, let’s look at the path Steve carved and be INSPIRED.

How will your life’s work be remembered when your number is called? If today was the last day of your life would you want to do the things you have to do today? If not, it’s time to take a cue from Steve and truly make some changes. As we’ve seen time and time again, tomorrow is never promised.

P.S. If you haven’t checked out Steve’s Stanford University commencement speech, please read this August In Her Shoes post to jump start your day.

Rest in peace and love, Steve. You’ve made our world a better place.
