Words I Never Said…

By  |

You are successful, focused, and of course, knocking down barriers left and right. As great as this may seem on paper, you’re still wondering if it’s good enough. Not that you need confirmation or an ego stroke from everyone but having a close friend or family member tell you you’re doing an awesome job wouldn’t hurt. To the world you are the strongest woman to step foot on this earth but when you hit home, a hidden vulnerability begins to slowly pour out of you. The one thing that you wish you could receive is a simple “good job.”

Many times throughout life when a woman is focused and making major moves for herself she seems indestructible. Her go-getter attitude shows the world that she needs no one’s encouragement except her own. Yes, it’s important to know how amazing you are yourself but assurance from loved ones is needed as well. I have to admit I am guilty of both roles. I have assumed that since one of my friends appeared to be living it up that she did not need me to tell her how proud I was of her. In my head I subconsciously always thought it doesn’t matter either way and she automatically knew…wrong! When I mentioned how proud and happy I was for her she almost broke down in tears because she needed to hear those positive and powerful words. Even when I think about myself I am the exact same way, people tend to assume and hold back. When in reality, their words are just what I need to be uplifted.

You honestly never know what a person is truly feeling within themselves. Even when it comes to your closest friends/family members you can only explain so much to them. It’s important that we do not assume that our words would not make an impact on someone’s life.

The tongue is one of the most powerful tools we have as humans. We already hear so much negativity and hatred in the world we live in. Choose to use your mouth to give words of praise and encouragement.
