What do you get when you mix a powerful storyline with an unstoppable cast of actresses? The much anticipated film, For Colored Girls Only, which will be making its debut in theatres November 5. The powerful story of capturing the lives of different African American women is based on Ntozake Shange’s 1975 Award winning play. Tyler Perry’s film will recreate the story with A-list actresses such as Kerry Washington, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Kimberly Elisa, Macy Gray and Janet Jackson.

The original For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When Rainbow is Enuf was a collection of 20 poems that embodied seven women characters. Each character was known by a color and represented the trials of abandonment, rape, abortion, love and domestic violence. Each woman shares her story of the pain, heartache and strength that one must endure to push pass these tribulations. It captured every ounce of emotion that a woman of color feels as we navigate ourselves through this world.

Not only did they get a full cast of superwomen to play the emotional parts but also gifted artists for the inspiring soundtrack. Gladys Knight, Nina Simone, Janelle Monae, Ledisi and Lalah Hathaway all graced the album with their presence. The soundtrack will be released by November 2.

Can’t wait to see it!
