Created by 26-year-old social media maven by day and online entrepreneur by night, Mandy Bowman, Official Black Wall Street is the answer to all of your #buyblack needs.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Mandy is a graduate of Babson College where she studied Entrepreneurship and Global Business Management. After reading a book on the rise and destruction of Tulsa, Oklahoma’s “Black Wall Street,” Mandy was inspired to support as many Black-owned businesses as possible in Brooklyn. Growing up in Bed-Stuy and witnessing how gentrification priced out many of the Black entrepreneurs who built the neighborhood made her even more passionate about this. She began doing research but found it really difficult to find Black businesses. A lot of the directories were extremely outdated and hard to navigate so she decided to start her own list. In doing so, she found a plethora of amazing Black-owned businesses and was so proud of these entrepreneurs that she wanted to share it with the world. That was when she decided to build her own directory.

The success of Official Black Wall Street has inspired Mandy to expand her platform to the mobile marketplace with an app designed to help us find Black businesses, events, news and more, right at our fingertips. Mandy is approaching the end of her crowdsourcing campaign to fund this new venture and needs our help. Click here, make a donation today, and spread the love. It takes a village to build an app and this is one our community needs now.
