Spark It!

By  |

Whether you’re launching a business, working a 9-5, or simply carving your own path, creative juices are essential. As one of our most precious commodities, creativity can be challenging to muster up if not exercised properly. Simply put, use it or lose it. On the flip side, it can also seem as if every piece of it has been sucked out of us if we don’t properly replenish it. Sound kind of tricky? Following are a few tips for finding that perfect balance:

Toss the Routine: We all have some sort of routine when it comes to our day-to-day life. Some are more structured than others but we all have a pretty set schedule and tasks we perform on a regular basis. It can be easy to  fall into a rut when doing repetitive acts. The key in breaking the chain of monotony is simply stepping out. From taking a new route home from work, to a spontaneous day trip with friends, mixing it up a bit can easily spark an emotion, thought, or that big idea you’ve been waiting for.

Clear It Out! Our minds are constantly moving. Even when trying to get some much-needed shut eye, it takes time for us to hush our inner thoughts. Creativity needs to have room to breathe and grow. If your mind is already cluttered with a never ending to-do list then there’s no room for free thoughts to flourish. Watch what you keep in your mind, a lot of times we’re worrying about circumstances that are out of our control. It’s time to kick worry off of it’s throne and replace it with creativity.

Time to Feed: Now, we all know that when we miss a meal our stomach begins to toss and turn and occasionally growls as a kind reminder that food is needed ASAP. It’s the same way when you’re trying to spark creativity. When we’re not receiving enough inspiration, something in our spirit feels out of place or slightly empty. Find time to be inspired. Visit your local museum. Grab coffee with someone who has contagious positive energy. Open yourself up to the world and switch your perception so every time you walk out the door, you’re able to receive inspiration.

Spark it! It’s time for you to get out of your rut and adopt new ways of seeing life. It’s easy to feel drained but don’t let it get the best of you. Remember, your creativity is a gift and it’s important to treat it as such.  Embrace it. Love it. Change the world with it!
