This is such a wonderful opportunity for any woman as we all need support in maintaining a peaceful and focused foundation in order to provide our families and communities with our very best. Sometimes with the stresses of today, lack of resources, etc. it may seem hard to feel empowered, but to be in a space with women who can share stories, skills and provide support is a priceless gift that I feel would be paid forward through the recipient and I would be honored to attend. Good luck to all the contestants and In Her Shoes, thank you for being a resource of empowerment.

I would love to attend the 2009 Essence Empowerment Conference! I am currently in the midst of a wonderful circle of women/men friends, as many of us are, that suffers from a few weak links!!! Because of this, I figured that this could not just be an issue with us, but a shared issue or problem stemming from a lack of self awareness, motivation and self esteem! Because of this, I’ve decided to start an empowering group called Motivating M.O.M.S (moments of mental stimulation) because as a man thinketh, so is he. Empowerment and movement begins in the mind and if that can be motivated, change can happen! Empowerment will begin! This conference would give me many avenues and tips to share with my immediate circle and all that I share words with! It would be the perfect example of empowerment!!! I get empowered with knowledge and I, in turn, empower with knowledge!!!

I have been living my life always on hold or worst for a man and I am just learning to live for Leah and for all the right reasons. I will be 39 this year and realized that it is never to late to learn and grow and that the tears of yesterday will dry and bring a better tomorrow with faith, healing, friends and all the empowerment that I can open my ears, heart and eyes to.

One moment, one minute, one second in a day can change your tomorrow forever. Today I lost my job. I am near speechless….no warning…no notice…no nothing. The recession, cut backs, and lay offs….. but I refuse to let this temporary situation change my permanent destiny. It is my belief that everything I need is inside of me. To win a ticket for the 2009 ESSENCE Empowerment Conference: A Day of Transformation would be an opportunity for me to become Empowered, transformed and embrace my beliefs all the more. I lost my job today but I believe tomorrrow I will find my passion and mission! I am ready to be Empowered!

I would love to attend the 2009 ESSENCE Empowerment Conference, I’ve just recently retired and started my own hair locking business. I need the positive reinforcement and information this event will offer. I feel strongly that this event will help me to turn my fears, doubts and impatience into empowerment tools that move me forward in this next stage of my life.

I would be priviledged to be able to attend this awesome seminar. I was downsized three years ago from a great job and have been working unsatisfying contract jobs ever since. I have been toying around with various business ventures and I believe this seminar will give me the “push” I need to be able to get started and move on. Not to mention being in a room full of empowered, positive, focused women–the networking alone will be priceless! Thank you and hope to be there!

As a teacher I’ve had the opportunity on a daily basis to help to influence the life of girls. Young girls, especially girls of color, need so much support emotionally, spiritually, and academically today. I would be honored to attend your Empowerment Conference, so that I can enrich my interactions with my students.
