2011’s Final Thoughts via Ariana Proehl

By  |

We’re just hours away from the new year on the East Coast and I must say, I’m SO ready for 2012! This past year was packed with highs and lows, life lessons and beautiful blessings that I can’t even keep count of. 2011 also marked the height of the media’s obsession with black women…specifically the SINGLE black woman. Our girl Ariana Proehl of Know This TV (who’s been featured here on In Her Shoes a couple times before) shared an eloquent message via YouTube that is the PERFECT closing note for 2011.

Tired of the never-ending stories on Black women’s married and unmarried lives, the horrendous Psychology Today article about Black women’s looks, and the heightened obsession with making a spectacle of Black women that went down this year? Know This TV’s Ariana Proehl is officially declaring the death of the “tragic, scientifically less attractive, unmarriable, single Black woman” narrative. Rest in Peace.

Happy New Year, beauties!
